Back-to-school season should be filled with excitement, confidence and possibility. Unfortunately, for many families facing financial barriers, purchasing all the supplies their children need can create significant added stress.
That is why the Valsef Dream Big Foundation was proud to support Opération Sac à Dos, an annual initiative organized by Regroupement Partage that helps Montreal children begin the school year with the essential supplies they need to succeed.
This year, our Foundation contributed $10,000 to support the Saint-Laurent edition of the event, providing more than 240 backpacks to local elementary school students and distributed over 160 mini backpacks to younger children through our new Little Dreamers initiative.
Introducing Little Dreamers
This year, we were especially proud to introduce a brand-new initiative: Little Dreamers. While their older siblings prepared for school, we wanted to ensure that the youngest children in each family also felt included in this special moment.
More than 160 little brothers and sisters who are not yet school-aged were invited to choose their own mini backpack, along with a game, a colouring book and crayons, giving them a special back-to-school experience of their own.
The initiative was inspired by a simple idea: the first dreams begin long before a child enters the classroom, and it is never too early to encourage them to dream big.
A Community Effort
Opération Sac à Dos is about much more than school supplies. It is about helping children feel confident, supported and ready to begin a new chapter.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our amazing volunteers, Vanessa Pugliesi from Valnet, Mary Campos and her children - the Manos family, and Jill Routledge from our foundation, as well as our valued partners at Regroupement Partage, the YMCA Saint-Laurent and GEOCAN, for helping make this memorable day possible.
Together, we helped hundreds of local children start the school year feeling prepared, celebrated and ready to dream big.
