Valsef Dream Big Foundation transforms the playground at Cardinal-Léger school and launches an ambitious $1 million program
A $115,000 investment to create inclusive play spaces and encourage children to be more active
Montreal, September 16, 2026 – The Valsef Dream Big Foundation is proud to unveil the very first project under its new Playground Program at Cardinal-Léger school, in the Saint-Laurent borough. Thanks to a major $115,000 donation, two new spaces have been built to give children safe, inclusive, and stimulating environments that encourage active play, movement, and development.
In the main schoolyard, a new large play structure is now available to the school's roughly 650 students. Designed to encourage physical activity, free play, and the development of motor skills, this new space turns the yard into a true gathering place where children can have fun.
A second, fully secured play area was also built to meet the needs of children aged 3 to 5, students in the school's welcome (reception) classes, and students with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum.

A first project that paves the way
In many communities, aging or inadequate play infrastructure limits opportunities for children to be active, socialize, and develop their skills. To help change that reality, the Valsef Dream Big Foundation has committed to investing $1 million over three years through its Playground Program to create and revitalize play spaces for young children.
The inauguration at Cardinal-Léger school marks the program's first completed project. More than seven additional projects have already been selected and are currently in the planning stages, reflecting the Foundation's ambition to multiply spaces that promote active play and physical activity in communities across Greater Montreal.
The Foundation warmly thanks its founders and donors, whose generosity makes these investments possible, as well as the Centre de services scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys, the Cardinal-Léger school team, and the company Jambette for their collaboration and contribution to this first project.
New call for projects: applications due October 31, 2026
To keep up this momentum, the Valsef Dream Big Foundation is launching a new call for projects and invites elementary schools, early childhood centers (CPEs), and community organizations in Greater Montreal to apply to the Playground Program. Organizations have until October 31, 2026 to submit a project proposal to create, revitalize, or improve a space that lets children and youth move more, play, socialize, and grow in a stimulating, safe, and accessible environment.
