Welcome to Valsef Dream Big Foundation’s website (the “Site”). By accessing or using our Site, you agree to these General Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our Site.
1. Use of the Site
1.1 The Site is intended to provide information about Valsef Dream Big Foundation and its initiatives.
1.2 You agree to use the Site for lawful purposes only and in accordance with applicable Canadian and Québec laws.
1.3 Unauthorized use, including attempts to access restricted areas, introduce malware, or disrupt services, is prohibited.
2. Intellectual Property
2.1 All content on this Site, including text, images, logos, and trademarks, is the property of Valsef Dream Big Foundation or its licensors.

3.1 Our Site include links to third-party websites. We do not endorse or take responsibility for their content, security, or privacy policies.
3.2 Donation Requests: All donation requests are processed through our trusted partner platform, Airtable. By submitting a request via Airtable, you agree to their terms and policies, which are separate from those of Valsef Dream Big Foundation.
4. Privacy and Data Protection
4.1 We respect your privacy and handle personal information in compliance with Québec’s Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
4.2 In accordance with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), the Valsef Dream Big Foundation has designated a Person in Charge of the Protection of Personal Information. The Valsef Dream Big Foundation ("we," "us," or "the Foundation") is committed to protecting the personal information of every person who interacts with our website, www.dreambigfoundation.com (the "Site"), our newsletter, and our donation request and grant programs.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, with whom we share it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector ("Law 25") and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
1. Who is responsible for your personal information
The Valsef Dream Big Foundation is the organization responsible for the personal information collected through this Site.
In accordance with Law 25, we have designated a Person in Charge of the Protection of Personal Information ("Privacy Officer"). The Privacy Officer is responsible for ensuring our compliance with applicable privacy laws and for responding to requests to access, rectify or delete personal information, as well as to withdraw consent or file a privacy-related complaint.

2. What personal information we collect
We only collect personal information that is necessary for the purposes described below. Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

Contact form: first name, last name, email address, phone number, and the content of the message you send us.

Newsletter sign-up: your email address and the fact that you have opted in to receive our communications. The newsletter list is hosted and sent on our behalf by Constant Contact (United States).

Donation request / grant application form (hosted by Airtable): the information you choose to submit about your organization and the contact person, such as organization name, charitable registration number, project description, requested amount, contact name, role, email and phone.

Online donations (processed by DonorPerfect): the information required to process your donation and issue a tax receipt, collected directly by DonorPerfect under their privacy practices.

Technical information: IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and similar information collected automatically through cookies and analytics tools (see section 7).
3. Why we collect it (purposes)
We use personal information only for the following purposes:

To respond to your inquiries submitted through the contact form.

To review, evaluate and follow up on donation and grant requests.

To send you our newsletter and updates about the Foundation, if you have opted in.

To issue and manage tax receipts for donors.

To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site.

To comply with our legal, regulatory and accounting obligations as a registered Canadian charity.
4. Legal basis and consent
We rely on your consent to collect and use your personal information for the purposes listed above. By submitting a form on our Site, subscribing to our newsletter, or otherwise providing us with personal information, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of that information as described in this Privacy Policy.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting our Privacy Officer (see section 1) or by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any newsletter email. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before your withdrawal.
5. Who has access to your personal information
Within the Foundation, personal information is accessible only to staff members and authorized representatives whose duties reasonably require it (for example, the team reviewing donation requests, the person managing the newsletter, and the Privacy Officer).
6. Service providers and third parties
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the Site and our programs. These providers process personal information on our behalf, under contractual obligations of confidentiality and security:

Wix.com Ltd. — hosting of the Site, the events and the contact form.

Constant Contact, Inc. — hosting of our newsletter list and delivery of newsletter emails.

Airtable, Inc. — hosting of the online donation request form.

DonorPerfect (SofterWare, Inc.) — processing of online donations and issuance of tax receipts.

Google LLC — website analytics (Google Analytics)
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences and understand how visitors use it.
We use two categories of cookies:

Strictly necessary cookies, which are required for the Site to function (for example, to remember your language preference or your cookie choices). These cookies do not require your consent.

Analytics and performance cookies, which help us understand how the Site is used so we can improve it. These cookies are only activated with your consent.
When you first visit the Site, you will be presented with a cookie banner allowing you to accept, reject, or customize the use of non-essential cookies. You can change your choices at any time through the cookie preferences link in our footer or in your browser settings.
8. Storage and transfer of information outside Quebec
Some of our service providers, including Wix, Constant Contact, Airtable, DonorPerfect and Google, are located outside of Quebec, in particular in the United States. As a result, your personal information may be stored or processed outside of Quebec.
Before entrusting personal information to these providers, we conduct a privacy impact assessment in line with Law 25 to confirm that the information will receive a level of protection equivalent to that required in Quebec, and we rely on contractual safeguards to that effect. By providing your personal information to us, you acknowledge that it may be processed outside Quebec for these purposes.
9. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law:

Contact form messages: up to 24 months after the last exchange, unless they are part of a record we are required to keep longer.

Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, plus a short technical retention period.

Donation requests and grant files: for the duration of the program and for the retention periods imposed on registered Canadian charities.

Donation records and tax receipts: as required by the Canada Revenue Agency and the Income Tax Act.
When personal information is no longer needed, it is destroyed or anonymized in a secure manner.
10. Security
We take reasonable physical, technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. Our service providers are selected in part on the basis of the security measures they offer.
In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we will notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and the affected individuals, as required by Law 25, and we will maintain a register of incidents.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you;

Request that it be corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;

Request that it be deleted or that we stop disseminating it, where the law allows;

Withdraw your consent to its use, where consent is the basis of processing;

Receive a copy of the personal information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format (data portability);

File a complaint with us, and ultimately with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer (see section 1). We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request.
12. Children
Our Site is not directed to children under the age of 14, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer so we can delete it.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review it periodically.
